Great Things We Noticed:

  • $1400+  raised in the penny drive for the garden!  Thank you! 
  • Ada trying "Your Power Hour" with her students! 
  • Judid "Go Funding" a picture printer and using it to celebrate accomplished goals!
  • Student of the Month on WEDNESDAY! 
  • ELPAC Testing - thank you Christina! 
  • 37 students attended Saturday School

Nuts and Bolts: 

  • A student in Mr.  Hara's class, Brandon Arellano, is currently in the hospital battling Leukemia.  We are collecting items for a care basket for both Brandon and his Mom.  Brandon really likes Sonic the Hedgehog, please drop off items to Paulina or Debbie! 
  • Thank you for picking a team member to attend the CABE ELA/ELD workshop on May 10th - please send me those names ASAP.
  • Shannon Dadlez created a class on the PD hub for the Summer Science Institute. If you’re interested you can sign up there. We already have 4 staff members who want to sign up so you will have great company if you sign up as well. J

  • SST/SBIT Meetings will be held 3/13 - if you have a referral you have not already turned in please have paperwork in by 3/8.

  • Books and Blankets - March 1 - 8:45-9:15
    • We will be sending flyers home this week for our Books and Blankets event
    • Parents will be allowed to come on campus - at 8:45 after the bell rings and students are in class
    • Students will report to class at normal times, please take attendance quickly
    • We will encourage families to bring their own books, however please have some on hand to share. 
    • It's OK for parents to read outside your class, in your class, with other students
    • This is an opportunity for parents to participate in a fun day AND for us to encourage and model reading with families.  Let us know if you have any questions or ideas to help facilitate this experience.  
  • 2019 Classified Summer Employment Application Flyer
    • The classified application for this year’s summer school, ESY, and elementary summer camp sessions went live on Monday, February 11, 2019 with additional details regarding summer session programs, dates, sites, requested classifications, etc. By clicking the link below, applicants will be able to provide electronically all of the same information provided in last year's paper application.

    • The online application should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Online applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019. Notification of summer assignments will be no later than April 30, 2019.
    • NOTE: No hard copy of applications will be accepted.

  • UCR Extension Course - Scholarship Available
    • UCR’s School of Education and KQED are teaming up at UCR Extension to teach a course called “Youth & Civic Media.” It runs from April 1 through May 26. There are two scholarships available for RUSD teachers. They will earn 4 units and present the lessons they develop in the course at RUSD’s 2nd Annual Civics Kickoff Day in August. Here’s the course description: https://www.extension.ucr.edu/course/38353085. It would be wonderful to have both an elementary and secondary teacher accept this wonderful opportunity.   • Freedom Writers
    • You are welcome to attend a pre-release screening of the Freedom Writers Documentary that will be held at University of California, Riverside on March 6th from 7:00-10:00 PM. This screening is free and open to the public. A Q&A session will be held immediately following the screening, featuring Erin Gruwell and one of the original Freedom Writers.
  • Eureka Day 4 training 
    • Will begin on 3/11
    • TK will have their own Eureka Day 4 training on 4/17/19 at Miller Middle School in room 452 from 8:15-3:30.
