Week 24


Great Things I Noticed:

  • Judid's hard work with Jump Rope for Heart!  (send me pictures!)
  • Our Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dances were a HUGE hit! 
  • Mr. Carrasco's math talk reminders - He works with the lower math group and the students used these reminders when talking about process!
  • Clarissa's Pear Deck/Gallup staff meeting - She is Twitter famous! 
  • Ms. Boarza's Calm Cloud reset area!
 
 

 

Nuts and Bolts:

  • Thank you for keeping current on your PE minutes - For those of you that are a bit behind, send to Debbie ASAP
  • READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK! 
    • Monday:  Crazy Sock Day
    • Tuesday:  Hat Day
    • Wednesday:  Strips/Polka Dots
    • Thursday:  Twin Day
    • Friday:  Green Day
  • Readers will be coming on Friday to read to students - watch your emails for information
  • Window Decorating Contest - Choose your favorite class book and decorate your window - Windows will be judged THURSDAY afternoon.
  • Our first LUNCH ON THE LAWN is Wednesday - parents will be allowed to bring lunch or join their children for lunch in the courtyard.  
  • Mark you calendars:  April 10th is Chromebook Inventory Day - more info to follow
  • 03/09/18: Students are invited to submit artwork for the new “Kids Art” initiative through the Mayor’s Office. Click here for more info. 
  • 03/16/18: Writing Assessment Upload to Illuminate (Opinion Writing)
  • March 29th is our Open House - Mark Your Calendars
  • March 27th is our next PL Planning day - If you participated in the PL Day at Nutrition Services please get a sub for March 27th 
  • May 10th is the RUSD Personalized Learning Open House - We will need representatives for this event and will do further planning on March 27th.

  • 100 Day Activities!  Thank you for making our 100th day celebration so fun - and a big thank you to Clarissa for organizing and leading our 100th day!

  • Planning days:  Please choose a planning day ASAP with your team - we want to you continue the cycle of inquiry by reflecting and taking action on you student's data.
  • Have you started using your FOSS kits?  Don't let this training and these resources go to waste... let me know if you need further guidance in implementing FOSS
  • 2/15/18 RUSD Employee Spotlight Showcase for RUSD employees arts submissions due. Click here for more info about visual arts submissions and click here for more info about performing arts submissions. 
  • When attending a PD or Workshop please notify Cindy of the date, time and location of your PD.  
  • Please let me know if you are interested in becoming the GATE coordinator - With Holly leaving we need to fill that postition
  • Kids Art Riverside We would like to introduce you to a project called Kids Art Riverside. The focus of this project is to strengthen relationships between the Mayor’s office and local elementary schools while advancing the culture and pride of the city of Riverside. Students are invited to submit artwork based on historically significant events, locations, and people to the the Mayor’s Office, and selected works will be featured on the Mayor’s social media channels. Artwork on the theme of “Juan Bautista De Anza” is due March 9, 2018.  Students are invited to submit artwork for the new “Kids Art” initiative through the Mayor’s Office. Click here for more info. 
  • 3/16/18 Writing Assessment Upload to Illuminate (Opinion Writing)
  • On February 5th, Applications will be available for those teachers and classified employees who are interested in working in the special education Extended School Year program that will be provided at two elementary schools, one high school, Sunshine, and Project TEAM. The deadline to submit the application is February 28th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Latonya Southall in the Special Education office @ extension 83505
  • 2/15 District personnel will be on campus to take inventory of our computers - please make laptops accessible and easy to access on 2/15



Focus: 

The Spotlight Method is a method to collect exit tickets after a lesson.  Exit tickets are a great formative assessment to determine what the students know about the content presented.  In this method the green represents "What I Learned", the yellow represents "I have considered"  or "I wonder...", the red respresents "My Learning Stopped Because...".
