Nuts and Bolts:

  • I wanted to share some of the feedback I received from Cabinet after the instructional rounds visit.  These quotes are taken straight from the emails!  Thank you so much for your engagement while we "embrace the journey".... You should be PROUD!
From Lynn Carmen Day, Chief Academic Officer:

Cabinet was so grateful for the opportunity to learn about the rounds at Hawthorne! The process was amazing and for those of us who have not been intimately involved in the instructional rounds process, it was a great learning experience. We truly saw evidence of student-centered learning, problem-solving, evidence-based writing, and thoughtful and strategic instructional practices.  Noteworthy!

Thank you for your feedback about our engagement and phone use.  This feedback will help us be better for our next training/walk through.  Of course, we always want to show how much we respect and appreciate our teachers and leaders as they deserve.

Again, please thank your amazing teachers who opened their classrooms to us, and especially those teacher leaders who trained us .  The professional growth experience at Hawthorne was so awesome that I hope to return next year with Board of Education (and no phones J)

Have a great day,  Lynn

From Jen DeAnda, Director Strategic Initiatives and Projects
Hi Carrie,

I know I speak for the entire group when I say we truly enjoyed spending time at your site, and witnessing excellence in action through your students, teachers, and staff.  Thank you so much for taking the time to share your school and remarkable team with us.

I truly apologize for how the teachers perceived the level of engagement from the group. Although there are occasionally issues that must be addressed immediately, it was not our intent to appear as distracted from the visits. I can assure you that we took away a great deal of information and will be more vigilant about the optics while visiting sites.

Thank you again for all of your work in making Hawthorne an outstanding school.

Sincerely,
Jen
