- K-6 Testing window for IAB's, Wrtitng Assessment and ELA/ELD comprehension (K-2) opens on February 4. Notify Longi or Erin for your grade level testing schedule.

- Black History Month (February)
- Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. - Free Books For Read Across America Day - Deadline is February 11, 2019
- The Literacy Empowerment Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, invites your school or other literacy projects to apply for FREE Books for Read Across America Day. During the past year, LEF has distributed over 3,000,000 books to schools all across the country for Read Across America Day and other literary projects.

- UC Irvine History Project Workshop for K-4 Teachers
- The California History Social Science Project presents a workshop for elementary teachers to learn more about the dimensions (Content, Literacy, Inquiry, and Citizenship) of the new History-Social Science Framework. Teachers will also receive lessons and books that center children as historical change makers. The day will include standards-aligned reading and writing lessons for your grade level, books for teaching, and time to work with colleagues. This is a great opportunity for teachers to learn about the changes to history education through the 2016 Framework. Register at https://tinyurl.com/CAkidshistory.

- Exciting Ecosystems will be the theme in Summer Camp 2019.
- Summer Camp will run from June 17-July 12. (Summer Camp will not be in session July 4-5)
- Applications for Teaching in this year’s summer camp will be emailed to teachers on Monday, February 4. Applications will be due on February 22, by 4:30.
- Applications for Assistant Principals who would like to admin at a summer site, will follow the same timeline.
- We will also be discussing Summer Camp 2019 at the Elementary Principal Working Group on Thursday, February 7.

- Newcomer Resources
- New resources for our newcomers are being developed. These resources can be used in addition to the current Newcomer curriculum. Our current Newcomer curriculum focuses on Language Development, while these newly developed resources focus on literacy development.

FOCUS:
We will be sharing out our AVID collaboration strategies at the February 27th Team Meeting. Please be prepared to share process, formative data, student work and photos/videos is possible (Longi and I would be happy to come in and film for you). This is a powerful way to build coherence across grade levels and we look forward to seeing what you have done!
