Week 4 - Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week, September 2-8 (First Full Week)

  • Read 180 has started!  Ms. Ramirez's student's are ready to face their challenges and conquer their goals!

  • Ms. Esquivel's students writing about the parts they love!
  • Ms. Masi's teaching Foss!

Nuts and Bolts:

  • We have had over 300 students visit the Health office in the past three weeks.  Please be mindful of when you send students up.
  • Those going to the Equity and Excellence Conference need to put in for subs.
  • Make sure you have filed out software spreadsheet that came from Cindy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mFaBj9Tb49lUar32B1Q4Ka8FjCY_8o1wz3Pp-WT4iCs/edit?usp=sharing
  • All grade levels need to sign up for Eureka Training, these are grade and site specific.
  • If you are planning a field trip in Spring, make sure it does not conflict with the testing calendar.
  • Check your phones in the pods to ensure they are working.  If not, let Cindy know.
  • Student Council forms are due Tuesday.
  • Debbie Shea will be starting on September 9.
  • Is anyone doing coding in their class or interested in learning about coding?  Come see Longi.

This week focus on WICOR in your lesson plans.  Our Focus is Organization.  Think about how you are helping your students become organized in all areas.  Be prepared to share out at the October 17th Staff Meeting.

Love Riverside’s Vision
“Love Riverside's vision is to inspire generosity that brings love in action to Riverside. We do this through hosting a city-wide serve day, inspiring ongoing volunteerism, collaborating with leaders & communicating city & neighborhood events that show all the good stuff going on in our city.
Our annual Love Riverside Serve Day will be:

We invite you to Partner with us in demonstrating kindness, spreading goodness & building community!” There are three ways they look for collaboration: submitting and leading a project, volunteering for the serve day, or financial sponsorship. 2019 Lois B. Krieger Water Project Grants for Educators
Receive up to $1000 in classroom funding. Deadline to apply is November 9, 2018. This is a great opportunity for schools and teachers to receive some additional funding for science. Please click here for the website with the application. Through the grant program, educators and students have the opportunity to become actively engaged in educational and water-related projects. This program continues to have a wide-ranging impact on students and educators in Western’s general service area. The application filing period began on August 1. Now is the time to register to audition for the 7th Annual Riverside’s Got Talent Show. Winners perform on Sunday, November 4 at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium, with six cash prize winners! Applications due Sept. 22. More Info
