Nuts and Bolts:

  • 100th Day is January 25th - We will be planning acitivites and events and encourage you to celebrate the number 100 with your classes!  This will also be a 100% attendance day with prizes for the classes with 100% attendance!
  • Please share any ideas you have for our 100th day attendance by emailing Longi or Carrie
  • Thank you to those that have responded to attend the Family Math Night!  Participation from each grade level and Sped would be great!  Let your team leader know if you would like to help with the planning!
  • Vision and Hearing will be taking place in E103 on Monday
  • Mariana Robles will be presenting on Danielson 3C at the staff meeting - please be prompt!
  • Progress reports should be to Longi and I no later than Wednesday for our review - they go home Friday with students.

Focus:

WICOR Focus #2:  Collaboration

Take a minute (maybe 1.47) to watch this video from the teaching channel and reflect on the questions below.  This video is a good reminder of how we can set our students up for successful collaboration.

  1. How does taking think time set students up for successful collaboration?
  2. How could you explicitly teach listening skills and talking norms?
  3. How does assigning roles facilitate successful collaboration?

The video below reviews how to run Collaborative Student Groups (an AVID strategy) - they show older students, but think of how you can use this for any grade level.  This is an example of teaching productive and helpful study strategies to our students, strategies they can take on with them through K-12 and into college.
