Nuts and Bolts:
ELA Adoption Update:
Thank you to Iona and Amanda for their hard work and thoughtfulness during the TK-2 ELA/ELD Adoption Committee and Instruction Team process. Thursday, the adoption committee met to make a recommendation for materials. Each site placed a vote for the materials they recommended. The results are 60% recommending Benchmark and 40% recommending McGraw Hill Wonders.
The next phase is to ensure that we have engaged all stakeholders in a thorough process with enough time to have a clear majority in recommending TK-2 ELA/ELD materials to the Board of Education.
Below are next steps that need to take place during this final phase of review:
- Materials to be displayed in the library through November 2
- Materials and overview will be a topic at our staff meeting on 10/17
- Grade levels with time to review either through a staff meeting or team meeting unless you choose to review during early release.
- Teachers have the opportunity to complete the site feedback tool and give to the site representative which they will bring to the next consensus meeting, Monday, November 5th
- This process pertains to all grade levels - please take the time to review and engage in this very important process.
- As soon as all materials arrive we will display in staff lounge
- CUE Conference: Let me know if you are interested in attending the CUE IE Conference - tentative date is January 19
- Please remember to take a walkie talkie with you during recess or PE. If you are leaving your class for an event such as book buddies, or a special trip to the library please just let the office know so we can find you in the event that we need you, or you can take a walkie.
